Celebrating the life of...
Penny Hough
(1961 - 2016)
Penny Hough
Penny Hough

It is with great sadness that The hub is announcing the death of one of our valued members and volunteers, Penny Hough. She started out in the Hub as a receptionist, she organised “Walk to Fitness with Penny” on a Monday morning, she taught English as a foreign language and she also attended the Dutch Conversation Class on a Wednesday. She could always be relied upon to help out at hub events. Penny came to Eindhoven to join her husband, Stephen, who was also a valued Hub volunteer. Although Penny was essentially a shy person, she deliberately went out into the community to meet, talk to and learn from as many people from diverse backgrounds as possible. She was a qualified Nutrionist who would help anyone who asked for her advice. Penny’s illness was short and the decision was made to take her home to be with her family in Manchester. Penny and Stephen had a very strong Christian faith and we hope that this will carry Stephen and their children through the difficult times ahead. Sincere Condolences from the Hub family.

Penny will remain in my heart for the rest of my life. I was very lucky to meet her and was blessed when she agreed to be my wife. Her legacy continues in our three lovely children. Today we reach the point exactly one year after she died. God Bless you Penny. Stephen xxx.

dear family of Penny, I wish you much strength. When I was working at the bar, when Penny gave dutch lessons, I loved to talk with her. Such a loving and warm, tender person! She danced in her heart if she could go to England or if her daughter came! dear Penny, fly, fly high!!! I love you...

I counted Penny as a good friend who gave me a love of running outdoors in the parks in Eindhoven. We walked and jogged through Genneper Park not always knowing exactly where we were! It did not matter, we were happy to blether and enjoy the outdoors. Penny I am and have been missing you. I will not forget you. R I P

Dear Stephen and family, I am so sorry to hear about your loss and wish you all the strength you need to get through this difficult time. I will burn a candle for Penny and will always remember the fun we had during Dutch conversation lessons. Especially the one where we discussed the difference between Dutch and English spoon quantity in recipes. We shared so much laughter. I hope that those type of memories will help a little. Our sincere sympathy Aukje
