Helen Earlene Risinger  (Beans)

Lady Baseball player Helen Earlene Risinger was known as "Beans" or sometimes "Beansie" during her career in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (where she had been a pitcher for seven seasons). Born in the tiny Oklahoma town of 'Hess' she is best known for being a female player for the time which influenced the story 'A League of their Own' - later helping out in a consultancy role when the famous movie of the same name was being created. Later in her life she took up a role as an X-Ray Technician. She was inducted into the Johnson County, Oklahoma, Athletic Hall of Fame in 1973. She died in Altus, Oklahoma on July 29, 2008 at the age of 81. RIP.
